In Switzerland, the adonis is present only on non-exposed slopes of the Rhone Valley.
Failing to produce nectar, the adonis uses its yellow petals to attract insects and leu to transport pollen. To reproduce this Ranunculaceae benefits, among others, a symbiotic relationship with ants. The seeds are coated with oil, to the delight ants. The latter will swarm around the seeds of the plant, thus ensuring the survival of the species.
